Bag Change-Outs as a Service: How to Find a Contractor for Bag Change-Outs

When you operate an industrial facility, a warehouse, or any other kind of jobsite that generates dust, debris, and contaminants, keeping your space clean and ensuring you have good air quality is essential. Not only can a dusty and contaminated workspace create health hazards, but it can also lead to other problems and slow down your operations.

Having effective air filtration systems in place is your first step to combatting such issues, but regular maintenance needs to be enacted as well to ensure you’re staying in the clear. That’s where bag change-outs come in.

How to Know You Need Bag Change-Outs

Baghouse filters and other filtration components can often last from a few months up to 12 or more months before a replacement is needed, though this estimate can vary based on specific brands, systems, and the extent of use. With so many aspects being overseen in a facility, remembering to change out filters can often get overlooked, or until the system is not functioning properly. To help you determine if your filters are about to need replacing, here are some key signs to look for:

  • Worn-out or damaged components – You will want to regularly inspect your baghouse filters and other filter types for wear and tear, especially if you think they may be approaching the end of their useful life. Look for any tears, holes, or deteriorating portions, as any of these issues can reduce the filters’ dust- and particulate-collecting abilities, leading to a less safe workplace and one possibly in violation of various regulations.
  • A drop in air flow – If your system is experiencing a noticeable drop in air flow, it’s highly likely that your bag filters are worn out and in need of replacement. What happens is that particulate matter will be collected on the filter media, which in turn restricts airflow. You can first attempt checking your cleaning components for proper operations, but if you see no notable change and no reduction in static pressure, it is likely you need replacement bags.
  • Reduced collection efficiency – Ultimately, your baghouse filter and entire filtration system needs to be able to get the job done, so if they appear to be lacking in that department and you’re noticing more dust and contaminants in the air, it’s likely time to take corrective measures.
